The YM support the initiatives of the IRSE Council, committees and sections for younger members. The YM committee aims to encourage the Institution’s other committees and sections to ensure that the needs of their local younger members are met through appropriate representation within their events and organisations.
The YM Forum, established in 2007, published two technical papers on Train Detection and Automatic Train Operation. The forum is presently considering how best to contribute to the development of young engineers. This web based forum encourages links with younger members throughout the world.
