The IRSE Principles of Railway Control and Communications Systems (Module C) exam coupled with the Applications of Railway Signalling & Communications Systems (Module D) exam are now available for booking for the exam on Saturday 5 October 2024. It is a computer-based exam and will be held online.

Please contact the exam team at exam@irse.org if you have any special requirements which you wish to discuss.

  • The cost is GBP £360 per person, with no discounts available.
  • Each exam takes 110 minutes, an allocation made up of 10 minutes to read the questions, 90 minutes for the examination and 10 minutes to submit any handwritten/drawn answers .
  • There are 4 timeslots to choose from (starting at 04:00, 06:45, 09:30 and 15:00 UTC) - please note that all times are given in UTC which could be different to your local time.
  • There are no exam centres - you are responsible for providing your own device (Windows, MacOS or Linux) with webcam, a suitable quiet environment with reliable internet without firewall or software download restrictions.
  • You will be monitored throughout your exam by remote invigilation software.
  • You will be required to download and test that the remote invigilation software by 3 weeks before exam day (by 14 September).
