This event is aimed at increasing telecommunications knowledge for those in railway signalling or telecoms.

The day will consist of a number of talks and demonstrations spanning telecommunications principles, cybersecurity, ERTMS, right down to signal post telephones, all within a railway context. This event will also be useful for those planning to take IRSE exam modules 4, 6, or the new module A in 2020, or the new modules C or D in the future. A number of past paper questions will be discussed during the day, however the event will also be useful for those just looking to expand their knowledge.

Topics hoped to be included:

• Cybersecurity
• Telecoms earthing and bonding / transmission media
• How telecoms fit into the wider system
• Telecommunication systems in ERTMS
• >A new signal post telephone - what could go wrong?
• How secure is ETCS EuroRadio?

This event is free to attend and open to all IRSE members and non-members, booking essential via Eventbrite
